A little inspiration. A whole lot of play.

Yard fit checker

Makers state an assembled size and, often, a play area to leave around it. Enter your yard to see, product by product, whether it holds the maker's play area or the footprint plus CPSC's general minimum use zone.

Will it fit my yard?

Enter the length and width of the open, level ground you have, in feet. For each product you will see its maker's assembled size and recommended play area, and whether your space holds the maker's play area or, where the maker states none, the footprint plus CPSC's general minimum use zone on every side.

Measure the open ground you have. Decimals are fine: 22.5 for twenty-two and a half feet. Either way round counts: a product may be turned 90 degrees.

CPSC's general minimum use zone

Place each piece of play equipment so that it has at least 6 feet of play area around it.

Enter both yard figures to check each product.

Swings need more room in front and behind

CPSC sets a separate, larger zone in front of and behind swings, tied to the height of the swing. This checker does not compute it; CPSC's wording:

For to-fro swings, extend protective surfacing in front of and behind the swing to a distance equal to twice the height of the top bar from which the swing is suspended.

Sizes and play areas are the makers' own, cited on each product page here. The use zone is the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's general minimum, quoted with its source; CPSC sets a larger zone in front of and behind swings, quoted with the checker, which it does not compute. A product turned 90 degrees counts as fitting. These are comparisons of numbers, not a site plan: follow the maker's installation instructions.

The figures on this page are the makers' and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC), cited where they appear, and the results are arithmetic on those figures. Climberoo has not tested these products and gives no safety advice of its own. Follow the maker's manual and CPSC's playground safety handbook when you choose, install and use play equipment.
